- Overview of business continuity and ISO 22301:2019 structure and clauses.
- The purpose and benefits of a Business Continuity Management System (BCMS).
- Understanding resilience, incident management, and recovery principles.
- Key definitions and the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) approach in BCMS.
Section 2: Planning and Initiating the BCMS Implementation
- Establishing the BCMS scope, context and objectives.
- Leadership commitment and organisational roles.
- Determining interested parties and legal/regulatory requirements.
- Developing a BCMS implementation roadmap.
Section 3: Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and Risk Assessment
- Identifying critical business activities and dependencies.
- Conducting business impact analysis: methodology, tools and metrics.
- Performing risk assessments and identifying potential threats.
- Setting recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO).
Section 4: Developing and Implementing Business Continuity Strategies
- Designing continuity and recovery strategies for core operations.
- Developing response plans, communication procedures, and escalation paths.
- Integrating IT disaster recovery and emergency response planning.
- Documenting and testing business continuity and recovery plans.
Section 5: Monitoring, Evaluation, and Continual Improvement
- Establishing performance indicators and monitoring mechanisms.
- Conducting internal audits and management reviews.
- Managing nonconformities, corrective actions, and system updates.
- Preparing for ISO 22301 certification and external audit readiness.
